Compatibility Questions
Q: How does IBWedge work?
A: IBWedge works by scanning for the presence of a newly-connected iButton device and then simulates keystrokes for the data generated from the iButton's ROM ID.
Most applications cannot tell the different between keystrokes generated by IBWedge or keys typed at a physical keyboard.
Q: Can I use IBWedge for authentication (usernames or passwords)?
A: Absolutely! IBWedge makes it easy to create strong passwords from iButton data. The only exception is that IBWedge cannot be used on the Windows® login or lock screens, due to how Windows security works.
Q: Can I use IBWedge on console (DOS window) applications?
A: Maybe. On certain versions on Windows, console windows do not receive the keystrokes from IBWedge correctly. This is something we are looking into.
Q: Are any other license terms/pricing available?
A: Under special circumstances, we may be able to negotiate a per-unit sales figure or percentage.
For example, if you believe that you will be going to sell thousands of products to a few enterprise customers, but will be doing special customizations for each of them, the Per-Product license will not apply, because it would only apply to one specific version of your product.
Instead, we can agree on a specific amount that will be paid to JRTwine Software per instance of product sold. This would require discussions about the licensing and installation model your product uses, as well as access to certain sales information in order to ensure compliance with the licensing terms.
Licensing Questions
Q: If I sell a site license to a product that uses IBWedge, how many licenses for IBWedge would I have to purchase?
A: For this kind of scenario, it is better to purchase a Per-Product license (or your own Site License for IBWedge), otherwise you would have to track each individual installation of your product, and make sure you have enough IBWedge licenses to cover them.
Q: Would I have to report sales information to JRTwine Software? Our company considers this information strictly confidential.
A: We may need this information to ensure that you are complying with the licensing terms and that you have not exceeded the number of licenses that you have purchased. This information does not include pricing or any customer information. It would be just the number of units sold per month.
This is in the interest of both parties -- we can help ensure that you have not purchased too many or too few licenses, and that your company is not doing anything illegal (i.e. committing theft and/or copyright infringement) by exceeding the number of purchased licenses.
Any such information is strictly confidential and would not be shared with any other party. We can enter into an NDA with your company if required. But note that in these situations, it may be easier for all parties involved to just get a Per-Product or Site license and be done with it.
Q: I purchased a block of 2000 licenses, but need more. Can I get additional licenses at a discount?
A: Currently, only Per-Product licenses (upgrades) are sold at a discount. But we may be able to negotiate a discount for larger number of licenses.

Q: Is White-labeling available?
A: The IBWedge product can be customized for you (additional fees apply), or we can sell a completely white-labeled version that you can brand as you see fit. Contact us for more information.
Q: Do you accept purchase orders?
A: Absoutely! However, note that at this time we are unable to handle international purchase orders. Payment would have to be arranged in advance via a wire transfer. Contact us for more information.
